Thailand marks visa exemption for Indian tourists with special airport welcome

TAT Welcomes Indian Tourists with New Visa Exemption

The Tourism Authority of Thailand (TAT) organized a special airport event at Suvarnabhumi Airport for IndiGo Flight 6E 1639 from New Delhi, India. Indian tourists holding passports or travel documents are now granted a temporary visa exemption for a 30-day stay in Thailand for tourism purposes.

Thailand’s Commitment to Ease Visa Procedures

The TAT Governor, Ms. Thapanee Kiatphaibool, led the airport ceremony and expressed Thailand’s invitation to Indian tourists to take advantage of the tourist visa exemption. The Thai government is committed to facilitating visa and immigration procedures for foreign tourists, particularly during the high season.

Temporary Visa Exemption for Indian Tourists

From November 10, 2023, until May 10, 2024, Indian tourists traveling to Thailand for tourism purposes can enjoy a temporary visa exemption for a 30-day stay. India is among the top 10 source markets for Thailand, with an 86% increase in Indian tourists in the first 10 months of 2023 compared to the same period in 2022.

TAT’s Strategies for Indian Tourism

TAT expects to see 1.6 million Indian tourists in 2023, generating approximately 65.6 billion Baht in revenue. To support this initiative, TAT will strengthen partnerships with local tourism operators and promote various travel experiences. Additionally, Thai tourism businesses will participate in major trade shows in India in 2024 to further promote tourism in Thailand.
